If it tries to start under electrical load the generator might be putting enough load on the engine that it cannot start and stay running cold on normal fuel but will start with ether which is way more volatile so easier burning than gas. When this happens either the engine simply will not start or it will not run without the choke on this reduces the amount of air getting pulled into the engine changing the fuelair mixture or it. This is very bad for a genset overall - not just bad for the carb.

These things need to be exercised regularly. A clogged carburetor is most commonly caused by leaving fuel in the generator for a long period of time. This was the crank position sensor.

Also it should smell like gasoline not laquer. Holding pedal down to try and clear flood does nothing. You then clean the main jet which is the nozzle in the central stem made of brass.

If after this the generator doesnt start still remove the whole bowl then clean it out before drying it.
